Children born to mothers with high levels of wheat protein gluten
antibodies had an almost 50% higher risk of developing schizophrenia
later in life than those born to mothers with
normal levels of antibodies, a Swedish study found. However,
researchers said that abnormally high levels of milk protein antibodies
among mothers did not increase the risk for psychiatric conditions in
children. The study was published in The American Journal of Psychiatry.
