Study: Sublingual immunotherapy is safe alternative to allergy shots

U.S. researchers reviewed 63 studies on sublingual immunotherapy and found moderate evidence overall that such treatment is effective for treating allergic rhinitis and asthma. Eight of 13 studies showed strong evidence that the treatment reduced chest tightness, coughing and wheezing compared with other therapies. The findings appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
