Flu during pregnancy may put children at risk for bipolar disorder
Getting the flu while pregnant was associated with an almost fourfold
increased risk of having a child who developed bipolar disorder, according
to a study in the journal JAMA Psychiatry. An inflammatory response or
fever may explain the link between maternal influenza and the higher
risk, the study author said.
